Discipleship Challenge
Discipleship: Following Jesus in your everyday life.
The Discipleship Challenge was developed by the Northeastern Minnesota Synod to deepen faith practices and develop leaders as we strive to follow and love like Jesus on a daily basis. The Discipleship Challenge focuses on faith formation and leadership development:
-
- Faith Formation: Developing faith practices in our own life and with others, allows us to experience, grow and BE in faith – to follow and love like Jesus.
- Leadership Development: Training and resources equip leaders with a framework for ministry that integrates faith practices into the life and ministries of the congregation.
The Discipleship Challenge grew out of the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering. Through a new initiative adult leaders across the ELCA were given opportunities for online and in-person training to walk alongside young people in their faith journeys. This training culminated in synods gathering at the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering for small group experiences with the seven faith practices: Pray, Invite, Give, Serve, Study, Encourage and Worship.
Following the Gathering, the ELCA Youth Ministry Network in partnership with the ELCA, continued to develop training resources for adult leaders through the “Practice Discipleship Initiative.” In conjunction with Practice Discipleship, the NE MN Synod offered the “Discipleship Challenge” with resources for youth and adults, in small groups or as a congregation, to continue to grow in faith and leadership through resources centered around the seven faith practices.
We pray these resources help you and your congregation grow in faith and leadership,!
