Walking Together: 50 Years of ELCA World Hunger

Help us celebrate 50 Years of ELCA World Hunger!

The annual Walking Together event will take place Saturday, Oct 12th at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN. Doors open at 8am, with the festivities beginning at 9am. Our theme this year is Walking Together: 50 Years of ELCA World Hunger, as we highlight and mark the ministry of ELCA World Hunger over the past 50 years. We also gather to learn, be stretched in our awareness, and be inspired to work toward eradicating hunger across the world. It’s a lofty goal, but Jesus invites us to “feed the hungry” and so we do!

The day will start with worship and preaching by Peter McLellan from ELCA World Hunger, as well as global music from ELCA Glocal musicians. This is followed by your choice of workshops by Sumud, ELCA World Hunger, Lutheran Advocacy-MN, Together Here, and EcoFaith Network. Each ministry will highlight how their work and hunger are directly connected. We will also experience an interactive hunger simulation – a powerful tool illustrating how hunger impacts everyday people.

We are excited to welcome a local artist who will lead us in creating a public art piece, an Action Center, silent auction, and lunch prepared by Caribbean Fusion. Free childcare will be provided! Our goal is to raise $5,000 for ELCA World Hunger with this event. This will go toward of our overall goal of raising 1.5 million dollars over the next 3 years of the celebration! ELCA World Hunger has deep roots in the Northeastern Minnesota Synod, and so we look forward to marking this milestone with you!

We invite you to spread the word, share widely with your church, utilize the graphics and information below in your congregational communications, and come celebrate with us all that God has done through ELCA World Hunger and the Northeastern Minnesota Synod!
