Young Adults
Young Adult Discernment Cohorts
Northeastern Minnesota Synod is excited to announce two discernment opportunities for young adults (ages 18-35) in our synod! Both are funded by the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE).
-
- Twin Ports Discernment Lab is a congregational-based program focusing on the Twin Ports and surrounding region.
- Beloved You: Conversation Circles is a denominational-based program and a available synod-wide initiative.
Beloved You: Conversation Circles
For those young adults in the NEMN Synod who are wondering – What would God have me do with this one wild and precious life? to quote the poet Mary Oliver. The cohort is made up of several young adult circles, grouped by age or life season, and each led by a mentor. The circles, and at times the larger cohort, will engage in monthly discussions, activities, and self/spiritual exploration. Participants will also be invited to meet with a Spiritual Director every other month.

Twin Ports Discernment Lab
A group of Twin Ports young adults currently meet regularly to explore meaning, work, and purpose. This cohort provides tools for participants to learn about themselves, grow in decision making, and learn from others who curate meaningful lives. Participants meet with a spiritual director or coach, and will receive a micro grant for vocational exploration. The program is May-Dec 2024, gathering 1-2 times each month both online and in-person.

Gather: Twin Ports
Gather: Twin Ports is a space for young adults to join in fellowship, worship, community, and discussion. Gather invites the group to ask challenging questions of ourselves, our faith, and our world. This is a community for young adults across race, disability, faith background, gender, sexuality, and perspective to feel welcome to meet, to be, to gather. We are a member of the Gather Network, a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). All young adults are welcome to join in our events!

Young Adults in Global Mission
The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program invites ELCA young adults ages 21-29 into a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service, ELCA young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors. They share in the journeys of companion churches and organizations in one of nine countries around the world.
A year of service through the Young Adults in Global Mission program invites young adults to become the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, providing critical support to ministries and projects in communities of need. It also invites volunteers into a journey of self-reflection, providing space to consider their sense of identity, God’s work in the world, and their place within it all.
