SUMUD Northland Hybrid Meeting April 27

SUMUD Northland – for Justice and Healing in Palestine and Israel

Sunday, April 27th, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in the Lakeside Room, SUMUD Northland will hold a hybrid meeting available through Zoom. As we contemplate the continuation on the assault of the Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank Palestine, we will continue to lament the terrible suffering there as well as look at this
issue from one Palestinian family’s perspective with the film, Rooted in the West – The Atta Jabar Family Story.

Atta Jaber’s family has farmed the Baqa’a Valley in the illegally occupied West Bank for hundreds of years, but since Israel’s 1967 occupation, their land has been confiscated piecemeal by Israeli settlers, and their homes and ancient farming terraces attacked and demolished. “The sound of the bulldozer is the music of the occupation,” says Atta – yet he preaches love and peace. Uniquely spanning 25 years in a farmer’s struggle to stay steadfast, this film is a moving testimony to the depth of one man’s humanity in the face of intensifying settler violence and intimidation. Rooted in the West Bank is a documentary by Bruno
Sorrentino and Uri Fruchtmann.

If there is time, we will also look at the new work of ELCA Sumud previewing their website and see how we can help the people of Palestine/Israel. Please join us in person or online. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86033186918?pwd=N1lzY3ZmWS80eWNnZGdwSzJGck9odz09 Sumud Northland seeks to raise awareness, encourage advocacy, and provide opportunities for accompaniment in grappling with the realities of the Palestine/Israel conflict.
